The Only Blog Directories List You’ll Ever Need!

Share

web directory listingWhen you are new and trying to establish yourself and your blog, you have to rely on every trick in the book to stand out. Today I’m going to talk about one method of bringing traffic to your blog which is, I guess, old school and that is web directories.

Web directories are web sites which lists blogs. The typical web directory will have different sections such as automobiles, education, internet, etc. Then under each section will be a listing of both web sites and blogs which pertain to that section. These web sites and blogs are either submitted by their owners or they have been indexed by the people behind the web directory. While the majority of web directories are like this, there are some which focus on one thing such as automobiles or computers.

By having your blog or web site listed in a directory you increase the likely hood of traffic coming your way in two ways: one way will be the fact your blog is listed in the directory for people to find. And the other way is the backlink juice your blog listing creates which helps when it comes to SEO. If you are wanting to drive traffic to your blog and also want to improve your SEO, then listing your blog with web directories is a great way to do it.

Review: Blog Profits Blueprint by Yaro Starak

Blog Profits BlueprintFrom time to time, I will be reviewing eBooks and books which I feel will be of benefit to you. I won’t waste your time or mine by reviewing anything which I feel is crap. There will be times when the products I review are part of an affiliate program. When this happens, I’ll let you know which links are affiliate links.

Out of all the blogs I follow on a regular basis, I can honestly say Yaro Starak’s Entrepreneur’s Journey has been the most influential on my young blogging career. I’ve been following Entrepreneur’s Journey for the last couple of years. In that time, I have learned a lot not only about blogging but also how to run a blog as a business. His posts are very conversational; something akin to actually sitting at a table, listening to him talk about whatever subject his post is about.

That is why I find his free report Blog Profits Blueprint (affiliate link) to be essential reading for anyone new to professional blogging or wanting to take their blog to the next level.

The main selling point of the free report is that it is a key to helping you (the reader) become a professional blogger and potentially earn a full-time income from a blog. Does it live up to this claim? It does if you truly want to become a professional blogger who earns a respectable income from your blog.

Google AnalyticsIn Getting Started With Google Analytics Part One, I explained what Google Analytics is and how you install it on your Wordpress blog by either copying + pasting coding provided to you when you create your Google Analytics account or by installing the Google Analytics plugin which makes installing the same code on your Wordpress blog easier and quicker.

Then in Getting Started With Google Analytics Part Two, we dove into actually using Google Analytics to learn more about your blog’s visitors such as which ones are new and which ones are returning visitors, where they go once they enter your blog, and so on. Now to wrap things up, I’m going to go over how to use Google Analytics to determine which pages gets the most traffic on your blog along with how to find out where visitors are entering and leaving your blog.

This entry is part 2 of 3 in the series Getting Started With Google Analytics

Once you begin to play around in Google Analytics, you’ll soon realize there’s a lot of information to take in. Some of it kinda confusing to very confusing. So what should we, the average blogger, keep tabs on? What data will show us what is working and what is not working on our blog? Where can we compare our blog’s new visitors stats to our returning visitors stats?

Before I get started, let me say up front that I am not an expert at Google Analytics. I’m just someone who has been doing a lot of research on it in order to make sense of it for my own blogging needs. And those needs are the following:

1.To see how many new visitors are coming to my blog
2.To see how many returning visitors are coming to my blog
3.How long visitors stay on my blog along with how deep (how many pages) they go?
4.Which pages of my blog has the most traffic
5.Where are people entering and leaving my blog

These five are a good starting point for now. As time passes, I’m sure there will be more areas related to my blog’s traffic I will want to learn more about. But for now, these five will work.

So if you are ready, go ahead and login to your Google Analytics account (you can learn how to do this in part one of this series) and let’s get started!
